Within each age group, swimmers will be assigned to specific pool lanes based on their skill level (beginning, intermediate, or advanced). Outdoor Swim Practice Weather Policy

To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during outdoor swim practices by establishing clear guidelines for various weather conditions.

    General Guidelines:

    - Rain:

Practices will proceed as scheduled during light rain. In cases of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and tornado (warning/ watches) the coaching staff will assess visibility and safety. If conditions are deemed unsafe, practice may be postponed or canceled. Makeup practices will be held on Fridays if weather permits.

    - Thunderstorms and Lightning:

At the first sign of thunder or lightning, all swimmers must exit the pool immediately and seek shelter. Practice will resume only after a minimum of 15 minutes without further thunder or lightning. This waiting period resets with each new occurrence of thunder or lightning.

    - Cold Weather:

Practices may or may not continue in cold weather unless the air temperature is below 50°F (10°C) or if wind chill factors make conditions unsafe. If pool water is colder than 70-75°F, practice will convert into dry land practice.

Swimmers should dress appropriately for the cold, including wearing non-sandals close footwear and bring dry clothing for dry land practice. However,

    - Heat and Humidity:

Practices will be canceled if the heat index reaches 105°F (40.5°C) or higher, as determined by the National Weather Service.

    - Air Quality:

If the air quality index indicates "Unhealthy" or higher levels, practice will be canceled to protect the health of all participants.

    Communication:

    - Cancellations and Delays:

Notifications regarding practice cancellations or delays due to weather will be communicated through Remind App at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for each practice. Please ensure you signed up to receive messages through the remind app and contact information is up to date to receive timely updates.

    - Parental Discretion:

Parents and guardians have the final say on whether their swimmer attends practice during adverse weather conditions. If you feel the weather is too unpredictable or unsafe, you may choose to keep your swimmer at home.

    Safety Measures:

    - Shelter:

In the event of severe weather, swimmers and staff will seek shelter in designated indoor areas until it is safe to resume practice.

    - Monitoring:

The coaching staff will continuously monitor weather conditions before and during practice to make informed decisions.
