Our first invitational swim meet for this season is quickly approaching. The Sprint Sizzler will be held on Sunday, June 5th and Monday, June 6th. This is an exciting meet that rewards the kids with some awesome medals and other fun awards to get them excited about swim!

***Please note that payment for Sprint Sizzler is due at time of entry. Swimmers WILL NOT be entered into the meet if payment has not been received by the deadline, Saturday May 28th at 4:00pm.***

If you are new to Makos, you may be asking:

“What is an invitational meet?” An invitational meet is a swim meet that requires a qualifying time from our time trials (held during practice) or dual meets to participate. Your swimmer may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify, but they don’t have to.

“How do I know if my swimmer is qualified?” To check if your swimmer is qualified go to https://cymillmakosharks.swimtopia.com/ and log in to your account. At the top right click on the red tab that says welcome and select my account. You can then select your swimmer, at the bottom of the page you will see the swimmer’s best times listed for each stroke. The times displayed are yard qualifying times. Attached to this email are the Sprint Sizzler Qualifying times. Your swimmer must have a time the exact same or faster to be qualified in an event. There are no qualifying times for 13 & Over Events, 13 & over swimmers can swim any individual event they want to swim. Athletes may swim up to 2 relays and 3 individual events each day. No Times (NT) are not allowed, Time Trial (TT) times are allowed.

Bonus events*** at the Sprint Sizzler: swimmers qualifying in 2 or more events may swim all additional events provided they have a legal time swum at Time Trials or a Dual Meet. ***Exceptions are 10&U must have qualifying time for 100 IM and 50 Free and 11-12 must have qualifying time for 100 IM and 100 Free to swim those particular events.

Relay Events at the Sprint Sizzler will include 4 relays: 100 Free mixed gender (2 boys and 2 girls), 100 Free same gender, 100 Medley mixed gender (2 boys and 2 girls) and 100 Medley same gender. Relay Only Swimmers are Allowed. This means that your swimmer may attend the Sprint Sizzler and swim in up to 4 relays without qualifying times in individual events.

Invitational meets are a great opportunity for our team. We'd love to have as many swimmers attend as possible. Invitational meets build team camaraderie, develop our swimmers, and unify the Makos.

Sprint Sizzler will be held at Cy-Fair ISD Natatorium which is an indoor pool but our set up will be outside like at our dual meets so prepare for Sprint Sizzler in the same way you would for a dual meet.

Cost: $7.00 per individual event/the Makos will cover the cost of relays. Payments can be made with cash, check (payable to CMMS), or Venmo. If using Venmo please include family last name, swimmer(s) name, and the event(s) your swimmer(s) will be participating in.

Deadline: Saturday, May 28th 4:00pm. This is the deadline to RSVP and PAY.

Time:

Sunday, June 5th – will be for all freestyle events (except the 100 free and ages 10 & under 50 free); backstroke, individual medley and freestyle relay events. Warm-ups will start at 10:00 a.m. and the meet will start at 12:00 p.m.

Monday, June 6th – will be for all breaststroke, butterfly, ages 11 & over 100 free, 10 & under 50 free, and medley relay events. Warm-ups start at 3:00 p.m. and the meet will start at 5:00 p.m.
