    Volunteer Sign-up Starts Tonight!!

    Dear Mako families,

Next Saturday, we will all meet at our Mako pool for time trials. This is a pre-season mock meet where every swimmer will swim all of their competitive events in order to obtain an official time, which is required by NWAL for future meets. (For those new to swim team, these times will be used to seed swimmers in heats at our first dual meet.)

Time trials is a great time for our team to learn how to run a meet efficiently. It gives families an opportunity to see how meets operate and to understand the various volunteer positions.

Tonight, volunteer sign-ups for time trials will open at 9 p.m. Please...

    1. Visit the mako website
    2. Log in to your account
    3. Follow the instructions for signing up pasted below (and also conventiently located under the Volunteer tab at this link on our website for easy reference)

Families may assign one family representative to one volunteer position. Positions are first come, first serve. Be forewarned, certain jobs go quickly ;-). Jobs will close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1st. If all jobs are not full, sign-ups will reopen at 9 p.m. that same night. At that time, anyone may assign their family to additional positions.

*****It is my absolute pleasure to answer any questions you may have and to help you in any way that I can. With four swimmers in four age groups, I am generally at the pool for every swim practice. If you need to get in touch with me, please reach out via Remind (Adrienne Exum), email ([email protected]), or find me during practice at the playground.*****

Please review the volunteer requirements for this season:

    • Families with a participating swimmer must volunteer at time trials
    • Families must volunteer at every dual meet their swimmer attends
    • All families with a participating swimmer must volunteer at the divisional meet
    • Families attending invitational meets (Tomball Splash Depot, Pentathlon, Trinity, Ponderosa) must volunteer to help fulfill the meet requirements assigned to our team

    Instructions for Signing Up:

    1. Go to our team website: https://cymillmakosharks.swimtopia.com. Sign-in to your account.
    2. Click on the tab that says ‘Meets.’ Alternatively, you can click on the current week’s meet under the ‘Upcoming Events’ tab on the righthand side of the team homepage.
    3. A window will open with a list of our meets. To the right of the meet, there is a green ‘JOB SIGNUP’ box. Click on that box.
    4. Your name should appear on the next screen. If it doesn’t, you are most likely not signed in. Click the black box reading ‘Sign-up for Jobs.’
    5. A list of jobs will appear. To understand the requirements and responsibilities of each job, hold your mouse over the black ‘information’ circle. Click the box in front of the job you want to sign-up for. Notice that each job will tell you how many positions are available and how many are filled. It will also tell you the point value for each job. These are the points working toward your season total point requirement.
    6. Lastly, find the volunteer coordinator at each meet (or Friday practice for Friday shifts), and sign-in for your scheduled job.

    Gratefully here to serve you,

    Adrienne Exum
